Antea and Obi were the most responsible people that I could find on the server, and they both had very good activity.
I had been watching out and had been asking around several of the regular players (not just the NBW guys), and both of their names came up more than anyone else, so they got the option and have done a great job since :D

I understand why the NBW get the mod postions and i myself was one of the people who voted for antea, but i just think there should be a few mods out of the NBW group.

NBW didn't "get mod positions" the only people the playerbase thought were worth giving modship to on hardcore just happened to be two people who were in NBW.
You are reading too much into this NBW faction stuff, it has nothing to do with who gets what or where and if there ever is a need for more mods on hardcore Sori would pick them the exact same way he picked them last time. A general consensus.

Who's NBW? Did they have a base? Was it important? I've been out of country the past few weeks so I'm out of the loop.

i don't play hardcore, but from what i've gathered, new brightwood was some massive town that around 30 people spent a very long time working on, and it shows from the pictures i've seen. then some guy came along and blew it all up with tnt, and now everyone is mildly annoyed

There was a member of New BrightWood who wass getting teased and trolled by other NBW members for quite some time, he finally snapped and leaked their coords to NBWs second greatest enemy (pop852456), after which pop traveled to NBW and blew it all up.

Square-Triangle and Frogman have it spot on pretty much. Here is a bit more background: NBW was started in April 2012 and ended in May 2013. Was the longest lasting group of players in hardcore. To get an idea of the activity, quite often NBW's Facebook page is more active than the NZN forums.

The thing that gets to me is I didn't know anything was happening with Spaites, only a handful knew. So his haphazard actions made NZNetwork a lot less fun for around 26 - 30 Minecraft players (15+ active). I liked playing with Spaites, he was very mature for his age; however he effectively ruined that too!
