No problems, you can safely do it. The only issue is with single player worlds, or if we roll the actual server back (not happening). So just set your profile to 1.7.10 (rather than 1.7.2).

I do not recommend 1.7.1 or 1.7.2 they are both very old and wont work properly.
You need to use the latest versions 1.7.9 or 1.7.10

1.7.1 is not the same as 1.7.10

Also 1.7.10 and under is broken for some people. my skin has the tendency to break on 1.7 so thats why i am playing with 1.8. more stable skins
